RIP Mr. Ashe. Overweight gym-teacher-turned-paranormal-detective who survived a high-speed cult chase only to get domed by our own concussed handler.

Hey team, I felt the need to vent about one of the most hilariously tragic sessions of Delta Green I've ever been a part of. Let’s pour one out for Mr. Ashe.

To set the scene, Mr. Ashe's character started out as a regular, very out-of-shape high school gym teacher (based on a real gym teacher I had in HS, BTW). But life took a hard left turn after he witnessed his best friend get brutally murdered by some invisible, unseen entity. Traumatized and out for answers, he pivoted into full-on paranormal detective work with none other than Delta Green.

Fast forward to his last session: Mr. Ashe and the rest of our investigative team finally managed to track the strange, otherworldly entity to the gruesome remains of a missing local woman. Turns out, a local pack of high school teens had gone full-on cultist and started worshipping this thing. As we rolled up on them, these kids didn't hesitate and whipped out the pew pews.

Naturally, a high-speed car chase ensued. Things went sideways fast, and our vehicle wiped out… hard. Mr. Ashe somehow survived the initial wreck, though he was horribly wounded, bleeding everywhere, broken bones jutting out through his flesh.

He manages to stumble away from the burning wreckage of our car, coughing and bleeding, looking like he might actually pull through. He sees the teens up ahead, getting out of their own wrecked car.

Enter another one of our detectives. Totally concussed, ears ringing, completely dazed from the crash. He stumbles out of the passenger side, unleashing (a very unnecessary) panic-fire at the fleeing cultists, completely botches the roll, and puts a bullet straight through Mr. Ashe’s head.

Just like that, a promising career in undercover paranormal work ended because of a friendly fire fumble. The GM just sat there and stared at us for five minutes.
